Plavi zub is the first film festival that literally anyone can participate in; the only criterion for application is that the authors shot their films by mobile phone.
Through the development of mobile technology, film making has become available to a wide circle of users who often choose to express themselves in this way, finding their audience on the Internet services like the popular YouTube. Today, almost everyone has a camera of some sort with them at every moment.
Technology development has made it possible for film making and editing tools to be an integrated part of every PC or MacIntosh; as a result, film making is now a hobby widely available to everyone and is not only reserved for professionals anymore. This trend has influenced even the academic institutions and encouraged them to experiment with these technologies.
The idea behind Plavi zub festival is to gather in one place the amateurs and the established authors who have chosen to express themselves through such media so that they could communicate and exchange their knowledge of and experiences with these new film-making tools and technologies.
The festival will have two parts: the contest part will feature amateur films entered in one of the following categories:
· Life is life (life in general)
· I don’t feel like dancing (music)
· LOL (comedy)
and the works of established authors which will not be part of the competition. This way, the new authors will have the opportunity to present their work to a wider audience while the established authors will be able to show how they perceive the new media.
Amateur authors can enter their works into the contest by uploading them to www.plavizub.com between November 15th and November 30th, after carefully reading the Terms of Use. The entered works will be reviewed by our jury (Ana Hušman, Velimir Grgić and Kristijan Milić) who will pick the best ones to compete for awards in their respected categories and for the Grand Prix award. The Gran Prix award is presented by Nokia, the Nokia N96 phone, technically probably the most sophisticated phone on the market today, which will allow its owner even greater possibilities in film-making. The other awards will be provided by Nokia and T-mobile in the form of various service packages.
Both the jury and audience votes will determine who the winners are.
