What are the categories?
The categories are very general – love, life, music… To further inspire the authors, we have given each category a “poetic” title – those titles can be interpreted as theme descriptions, but can also be an inspiration within themselves. If you don’t associate “More than words” with the romantic ballad by Extreme, you’re welcome to interpret the title as you see fit.
Make it with your crappy cell phone. There’s nothing like pixelated video.
Is it allowed to edit the film on the computer – cut scenes, fuse images, add titles and effects?
Yes! There are no restrictions in terms of additional work on the footage.
No. Some cell phones allow pausing and then continuing of the filming; some even have programs that enable the user to add titles and fuse scenes. All other cell phones can film one clip at the time, but that shouldn’t stop you from filming your own one-take masterpiece.
Can I….
Yes, yes and yes. Anything goes, as long as the film is made by cell phone.
How do I enter my film into the competition?
To enter your film, first you need to upload it to one of many online video-sharing services. We recommend:
Nokia Share on OVI service
Instructions on OVI are here
vimeo.com
video.google.com
www.youtube.com
Before uploading your film, you will probably have to compress it. Most video sharing services allow various types of files, but we won’t go into technical details here.
A general rule concerning compression is that it would be good if the material you are sending us is not of much poorer quality than the one you edited on your computer. If the difference between the two is drastic, try adjusting the settings of your compression program.IMPORTANT!
If the material was filmed and edited in the cell phone itself, do not convert the file, but send it in as-is.
There are many online tutorials that explain how to edit, compress and convert etc… You’ll have to figure it out for yourself.
